Local Food Hub is php application that runs on a web server to support a local food distribution hub. The food hub consolidates orders for specific distribution days where pre-ordered produce is delivered by suppliers, packed by volunteers and collected by consumers. The full order cycle has an ordering period, a cut off date, notification of suppliers (usually 2 days before delivery to the hub) and distribution day. This software provides the framework for producers to add products and availability, for consumers to order produce for the next distribution day and back end processing to allow the hub administrator to collate multiple consumer orders into single single purchase orders for suppliers. Distribution day processing to handle delivery, sorting, invoicing and statements.

Hefeextrakte werden in Maggi-Würze, Vegemite, Marmite, Instantbrühen und Gewürzzubereitungen verwendet. Für die Herstellung von Pillen ist Hefeextrakt ein häufiger, fast obligater Bestandteil. Autolysierte Hefe ist auch eine primäre Quelle für Mononatriumglutamat für die Nahrungsmittelindustrie. Da Hefeextrakt freies Glutamat nicht in isolierter Form enthält, besitzt es keine E-Nummer und gilt nach Gesetz nicht als Geschmacksverstärker. Daher können auch Produkte die als „frei von Geschmacksverstärkern“ gekennzeichnet sind, Glutamat enthalten (in Form von Hefeextrakt).
Die Foodsoft ist eine Websoftware für die Organisation von Bestellcoops. Bestellcoops sind die schlankere Version von Foodcoops. Die Mitglieder der Coop sammeln regelmäßig ihre Bestellungen und passen sie den lieferbaren Gebindegrößen an. Die Waren werden direkt nach der Lieferung auf die Mitglieder verteilt, so daß keine Lagerfläche benötigt wird.
Over the last few years hackers have begun to take a larger interest in food, gastronomy and agriculture. For many in the community the ability to create DIY molecular gastronomy hardware and recipes is an obvious entry point. This talk extends some of these early investigations beyond the kitchen and the chemical properties of food by looking at specific cultivars, food technology organizations, and connections between food systems, ecosystems and planetary change.
