Bemerkenswert sind im "New Kreuterbuch" (1543) von Leonhard Fuchs die Illustrationen, die mit größter Sorgfalt erstellt sind, bestechend naturgetreu und botanisch von höchstem Rang. Diese Holzschnitte wurden in zahlreiche andere Werke (verkleinert, seitenverkehrt nachgeschnitten, etc.) übernommen.
